Frequently Asked Questions

Does tallow smell like beef?
No — properly rendered tallow has almost no scent on its own. Ours is also blended with real scent ingredients (like cedarwood, lavender, or vanilla honey), so what you smell is the actual fragrance, not the base.

Where do I use this — face, body, or both?
It depends on the scent. Cedarwood, Lavender, Unscented, Vanilla Honey, and GHK-Cu are gentle enough for face and body. Orange, Lemongrass, and Rosemary & Clary Sage are made for body use. Check the "Where to use" note on each product page for specifics.

What's the difference between suet tallow and regular tallow?
Suet is fat from around the kidneys and loin — the purest, highest grade of beef fat. It's higher in vitamins A, D, E, and K than general trim fat, sets firm and bright white, and has a cleaner, more neutral scent. That's why we use it exclusively instead of general-purpose trim fat.

What do vitamins A, D, E, and K actually do for skin?

  • Vitamin A — commonly associated with supporting smooth, healthy-looking skin texture.
  • Vitamin D — naturally found in skin and often associated with overall skin health.
  • Vitamin E — a well-known antioxidant, commonly used in skincare to help moisturize and protect skin from everyday environmental exposure.
  • Vitamin K — often associated with supporting skin's natural appearance and tone.

These are general educational notes about these vitamins, not claims about what this specific product will do for your skin.

Why does tallow feel different from regular lotion?
Tallow's fatty acid structure is similar to the sebum your skin naturally produces. Because of that similarity, many people find it absorbs without feeling greasy or sitting on top of the skin the way some plant-oil-based lotions can. Everyone's skin is different, so how it feels can vary from person to person.

Will it clog my pores?
This is a common concern, and for most people the answer is no. Because tallow's fatty acid profile is similar to your skin's own sebum, it tends to absorb rather than sit on the surface. Many customers with oily or acne-prone skin use it without issues — but everyone's skin is different, so we'd recommend a patch test if you're not sure.

Is this safe for sensitive skin?
Our Unscented and Vanilla Honey whips are our go-tos for sensitive skin, since they're gentle and free of added fragrance (Unscented) or naturally soothing (Vanilla Honey with honey as a humectant). As with any new skincare product, we recommend a small patch test first, especially if you have a known skin condition or allergy.

Can I use this around my eyes or on my lips?
Yes — tallow is gentle enough for delicate areas like under-eyes and lips for most people. Because our formula has so few ingredients, the risk of irritation is minimal, but we'd still recommend a patch test first if you have very reactive skin.

Can I use this while pregnant or nursing?
We're not medical professionals, so we always recommend checking with your doctor before adding any new skincare product to your routine during pregnancy or while nursing.

Is this safe for kids?
We recommend adult supervision and a patch test first. If your child has sensitive skin or any known allergies, check with your pediatrician before use.

How much should I use, and how long does a jar last?
Start with a pea-sized amount for the face, or a dime-sized amount for larger areas like hands or arms. Let it warm slightly between your fingers before applying — it melts into a lighter texture with a little body heat. Most customers find a jar lasts several weeks to a couple months, depending on how often and how much you use.

What does "double whip" mean?
We whip our tallow twice — once to break it down after rendering, then again once it's cooled, blending in the scent ingredients on the second pass. It's an extra step most brands skip, but it's what gives our whips that light, fluffy texture instead of a dense, greasy one.

Shipping

How much does shipping cost?
Flat rate shipping of $12 on all orders. No shipping charge for local pickup.

When will my order ship?
To protect your tallow during transit, we currently ship Monday–Wednesday only. Our products are temperature-sensitive and will lose their whipped texture if exposed to heat for too long, so we limit shipping days to keep your order out of hot trucks and facilities over the weekend. Orders placed Thursday–Sunday will ship the following Monday.

How long does processing take?
Most orders are processed and shipped within 1–3 business days.

How do you package orders for shipping?
Every order ships with reusable dry ice packs inside a thermal radiant barrier envelope to protect your tallow during transit.

Do you offer local pickup?
Yes! Pickup is available in Del Valle, Lockhart, and Manor, TX. Select your pickup location at checkout — no shipping charge for local pickup.

What about pre-orders?
Pre-order items ship on or after the date noted on the product page. If your order contains both in-stock and pre-order items, your full order will ship when the pre-order item is ready.

Do you offer subscriptions or bulk discounts?
Yes — check the product page for subscribe & save options, and keep an eye on our announcement bar for current promotions.

What if I'm allergic to one of the ingredients?
Check the ingredient list on each product page before purchasing. If you have known allergies (to tree nuts, specific oils, or fragrances), we recommend reviewing ingredients closely and doing a patch test. If you experience any irritation, discontinue use.

Is tallow sustainable?
Yes — tallow is a byproduct of beef production that would otherwise go to waste. Using it in skincare is part of a whole-animal approach, so nothing goes unused.

How is this different from other tallow brands?
We make every whip ourselves, by hand, in small batches — not outsourced to a manufacturer. That means we know exactly what's in every jar, because we put it there.

Are your products FDA-approved?
Cosmetic products like ours aren't reviewed or approved by the FDA the way medications are — that's normal for the skincare industry. We stand behind our ingredients and sourcing, and any aromatherapy or wellness-related scent descriptions on our site reflect traditional, historical use rather than medical claims.

Where are your products made?
Every batch is handmade in small runs in Lockhart, Texas, using locally sourced Suet Beef Fat.
